Salt Cod Fish Balls (12 balls)

What you need?

  • 12 lb salt cod fish
  • 2 cups diced raw potatoes
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 12 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • breadcrumbs
  • vegetable oil (for frying)

What to do?

  1. Soak cod fish in water for 1-3 hours. The longer it soaks the less salty it will become.
  2. Boil for 1/2 hour.
  3. Meanwhile peel and dice potatoes; boil for 20 minutes. When cool mash coarsely.
  4. Drain, rinse fish under cold water and flake making sure to remove fine bones.
  5. Add butter, pepper and shredded fish to potatoes, mix well.
  6. Form mixture into balls.
  7. Dip in beaten egg then breadcrumbs.
  8. Fry in deep oil in fryer basket until golden brown.
  9. Drain on absorbent paper and serve hot
